LG Optimus 3D replacement coming to MWC?

T3 Staff / News / Wed 25th Jan 2012 13:38 pm

LG’s first 3D handset was known for being impressive but still fairly bulky as a handset, rivalled only by the HTC EVO 3D, again, not exactly svelte.

LG could well be working on a successor to its LG Optimus 3D with the smartphone launching at MWC 2012 and sporting a smaller form factor among some minor hardware upgrades.

Known only as the CX2 the successor to the Optimus 3D would boast a sub-10mm thickness and would come with some minor improvements in hardware with the processor going from 1.0GHz to a dual-core 1.2GHz.

It’s believed that the handset will come with a NOVA display and will retain the same 8GB memory that the previous model had, it will however come with Bluetooth 3.0, DLNA and NFC.

Most shocking of the specs however will be the version of Android it’ll be running with Pocket Now claiming that the LG CX2 will come running Gingerbread, yes that’s Android 2.3.

Will it’s 3D touting screen be enough to win people over despite the lackluster processor and OS? Let us know what you think via our Twitter and Facebook feeds.
